Organised by ‘Battlefield Tours’ the trip was effectively 3 days of walking along the D-Day beaches with a day travelling to the area and a day travelling back.

Our itinerary – D-Day Itinerary (pdf file)

We travelled by coach – first separately then met up at Dover where we joined the coach for the tour – a very fancy coach with toilet, a lounge at the back and te and coffee making facilities.

Across the channel in a ferry and then from Calais down to Normandy taking several hours until reaching Caen where our hotel was located on the outskirts.

Return travel was more or less the same but we split up in France S of Calais and travelled back to our homes in separate coaches.
